関西を拠点に活動する演奏家・チェリスト中川裕貴によるソロアルバム『Stills and Remains』のリリースを記念し、7月よりスタートするリリースツアーに先立ち、このアルバムのリスニングイベントを6月28日に京都・外にて開催します。
この作品は2026年6月12日に、グアテマラ出身のチェリストMabe Fratti、Arthur Russellのコラボレーターとして有名なPeter Zummoなどの作品をリリースするオランダのレーベルUnheard of hopeからリリースされます。
中川は長きに亘り、チェロを「声を生み出す装置」として捉え、このアルバムでは、チェロの拡張奏法や自作の弓を用いながら、ドローンやノイズ、打楽的な響きが重なり合う、チェロの「声」を主体とした環境／空間としての音楽を生み出しています。
今回のイベントでは、この作品のレコードをバンド・空間現代が運営するスペースである「外」のサウンドシステムでいち早く再生。大音量でその音像を聴きながら、中川とkekqによるトーク、また中川によるアルバムの一部「実演」も交え、その実像に迫ります。
この作品について、中川はチェロの音が「"音楽"という時間と空間の上に存在する建物であると同時に、それは態度、意思を表す"声"として存在する」と語っています。その試みの軌跡を聴取、対話、そして実演を交え、追いかけます。またリスニングイベント後にはkekqによるこの作品に呼応するようなDJプレイも行われる予定です。
また当日会場ではレコードの販売も行われますので、是非ご来場の上、チェロから生まれる「声」に耳を傾けていただければ幸いです。

To celebrate the release of Stills and Remains, the solo album by Kansai-based performer and cellist Yuki Nakagawa, a special listening event will be held at Soto in Kyoto on June 28, ahead of the release tour starting in July.
The album will be released on June 12, 2026 by the Dutch label Unheard of Hope, known for releases by artists such as Guatemalan cellist Mabe Fratti and Peter Zummo, the renowned collaborator of Arthur Russell.
For many years, Nakagawa has approached the cello as a “device for generating voice.” On this album, he uses extended cello techniques and self-made bows to create a music of environment and space, centered around the “voice” of the cello, where drones, noise, and percussive resonances overlap.
At this event, the record will be played in advance through the sound system of Soto, a space run by the band Kukangendai. Alongside the listening session, there will be a talk between Nakagawa and kekq, as well as a partial live demonstration by Nakagawa, offering a closer look into the work.
Nakagawa describes the sound of the cello in this album as “a structure that exists within the time and space of music, while also existing as a voice that expresses attitude and intention.” Through listening, conversation, and live demonstration, the event will trace the process and ideas behind this work. After the listening event, kekq is also scheduled to perform a DJ set in response to the album.
