ソロアルバム「Stills and remains」を、オランダ・ロッテルダムのレーベルUnheard of hopeより6月12日にリリースします。2年ほど前から取り組んできた作品なので、このリリースをようやくお知らせできることをとても嬉しく思います。このアルバムに収録されている音は、すべてチェロから生まれています。チェロ、エフェクトペダル、弓、そして私の演奏行為。それらのあいだで生まれる「遣り取り」から立ち上がった様々な音が、8つの曲として収められています。アルバムを通して聴いていただくことで、「ここにあるのはチェロの音だけである」という事実から、何らかのメッセージ、あるいは問いのようなものを受け取ってもらえたら嬉しいです。
私はこれまでチェロという楽器を独学で演奏してきました。手探りの中で、この楽器が持つポテンシャルや必然性と向き合いながら、自分とチェロで何が生み出せるのかを考え続けてきました。私にとってチェロは、音楽をつくるための道具であると同時に、「声」を生み出す装置でもあります。
音楽でありながら声でもあるもの。
時間と空間の中に立ち上がる「建物」でありながら、「声」という現象や態度でもあるもの。その重なりに耳を傾けていただけたら幸いです。
アルバムジャケットは、長年私を撮影してくださっているYoshikazu Inoue（井上嘉和）さんによるものです。私が生まれた家の近くにある田んぼで撮影されました（2024年5月、田植えの直前、自分でチェロを持って田んぼに入り撮影しています）。泥、沼地、濁った水、歪んだ水面。その中にぽつんと佇むチェロ。タイトルである「Stills and remains」は、静物や遺物、そして「ここに留まり続ける」という態度を含んでいます。それはこの現在地に対する自分なりの応答であり、音楽や表現に対するひとつのステートメントでもあります。またこの作品は、過去4年ほどのあいだに繰り返し試行してきた演奏、そして京都と三重を往復してきた時間の軌跡でもあります。
本作の制作にあたり、きっかけをくださったKoshiro Hino（日野浩志郎）さん、録音からミックスまで伴走してくださったToru Koda（甲田徹）さん、そして作品に深みをもたらしてくれたStephan Mathieuによるマスタリングに、心より感謝します。また、ジャケットに名前を記した多くの友人にも御礼申し上げます。
レコードは6月12日にリリースされます。日本国内でも複数のレコードショップで取り扱い予定です。また、リリースにあわせて各地でイベントも予定しています。どうぞよろしくお願いいたします

My solo album Stills and Remains will be released on June 12 via Unheard of hope.
I’ve been working on this project for around two years, so I’m very happy to finally share it.
All the sounds on this album are made from the cello.
The instrument itself, the bow, effect pedals, and my act of playing.
The various sounds that emerge from this “interaction” are shaped into eight pieces on the record.
By listening to the album as a whole,I hope you might receive some kind of message — or perhaps a question — that arises from the simple fact that everything you hear comes from the cello.
I have been playing the cello entirely self-taught.
Through this process, I’ve continuously confronted the instrument’s potential and its inherent necessity, questioning what can be created between myself and the cello.
For me, the cello is not only a tool for making music, but also a device for generating “voice.”
It is both music and voice at the same time.Something like an architecture unfolding in time and space, and at the same time a phenomenon — or an attitude — of voice.I would be very glad if you could listen to the overlap of these elements.
The album artwork was created by Yoshikazu Inoue, who has documented my work for many years.
It was photographed in a rice field near the house where I was born.Mud, wetlands, murky water, distorted reflections.A solitary cello standing within them.The title Stills and Remains reflects both stillness and remnants, as well as a sense of “remaining here.”It is a response to my current position, and a statement toward music and expression itself.
At the same time, I see this work as a trace of repeated performances over the past four years, and of the time spent moving between Kyoto and Mie.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to Koshiro Hino, who gave me the initial opportunity for this work, to Toru Koda for supporting the process from recording to mixing, and to Stephan Mathieu for bringing depth to the final sound through his mastering.I am also deeply grateful to the many friends credited on the sleeve.
